Digital Native Photo of the Day

Digital Native Photo Of The Day posted in the Fischbowl

In the article, Digital Native Photo of the Day, posted in the Fischbowl it is about how the world that Mr. Fisch grew up in has changed drastically to the world that the kids today our living. In his blog, he explained how back then, his family had only one phone in the house and how there was no such thing as internet etc. The article also contained a photo of Mr. Fisch’s 7 year-old daughter. His daughter was multi-tasking and holding a cell phone in one hand and typing on her laptop in the other. New programs, like Webkinz, Neopets, etc. Encourage kids to get online and interact with technology. From experience, with a family friend who is now 8 years old, she is into things like iPods, “Club Penguin” (another game similar to Webkinz) and especially cell phones. When I was 8 years old I was playing things such as Barbie’s and Colored Game Boys. I didn’t even know what the internet was. Looking back to compare these differences amazes me. It feels like a few months since I was that age and to see how far this country has advanced in technology just astonishes me. This whole situation definitely makes me wonder what we are going to be like in maybe just a few years from now. We are constantly growing in new technology almost daily.

Why should we care about this? My dad told me about one if his guys who was in prison from 1960 until 2001 and was overwhelmed with all of the technology he had when he got out.

I agree, the technology in this world is changing drastically, and people are being consumed with all these new entertainments and arn't focusing on what really matters in this world.

I think this is a very important thing because the world around us is advancing technologaly and I think that the younger you learn about this stuff the better of you are. :)

I agree, technology changes a lot in a short amount of time. Have you watched Mr. Fisch's PowerPoint on how children of the world are being tought things that we don't even know about yet? This blog and this powerpoint are closly related.

Natalie, I bloged about the same thing you did an I agree that the younger kids are the more they will know about technology. I liked the way you connected this article to when you were little and used a colored gameboy.

Sometimes I wish I could just go back in time when our world didn't depend on technology. There were no cell phones, no computers, no video games. Like everything in this world, I think technology has good effects and bad, like Greg said, "...people are being consumed with all these new entertainments and arn't focusing on what really matters in this world." To me, the world doesn't seem as mysterious and exciting as it was when I was younger, and maybe thats just me. I think technology has brought us "closer" as the entire world, and has brought about a new, undetermined future. I'm trying to imagine what the future will look like, but the Jetsons keep coming into my head.
